Benjamin is a filmmaker, assistant director and programmer from Munich, Germany, since 2021 based and working in Cork City, Ireland. Before and after he graduated his MA in film studies, he worked in the German and Irish film industry, with his main focus on assistant directing. He has written, directed and produced several non-budget fiction and documentary short films and music videos. He has been involved in different festival and theatre productions and is always interested in possibilities for inter-media projects between film and physical performance art. He started and is running Cork’s monthly film talk Out of Frame and founded the LGBTQ+ focused film festiva Priosma. He is a committee member of the monthly short film schreening The People’s Picturehouse. He is a founding member and the current co-chair of Screen Cork. A main focus of his work is hoping to contribute further to a collective European cultural narrative and more diversity and representation of queer themes in film. With his five year background in academic research, he has a special interesting in historical and archival film work, as well as a more experimental approach to documentary filmmaking.
